I received SMSes from my favourite bookstore informing me that my ordered book already available. Hmm what I like with the megastore is that their workers attitude - more professional than the small bookstore. Apart from that their staff, more prettier that the small one (muka pecah rumah and bloody sombong). He He He. I just been sincere here, don't take it personally.

Since today is Sunday in Malaysia, I am intent to collect the book. My plan is to commute by ERL to KL Sentral and take LRT to KLCC. Taking about KLCC, I love KLCC. It's "refreshing".

My Birthday Gift ---- Worth My Time

I find it amazing that I can be 35 years old and seem to know less every day. No matter how much you learn, it just continues to open up more substantial questions and relationships.

A relative of mine gave me a new handphone for my birthday. And to her surprised, I refused to accept the gift. I said:"I just want a book for my birthday. Perhap you could buy me or order me this book for me. The title is - An Engineer's Alphabet: Gleanings from the Softer Side of a Profession from Henry Petroski.

Why do you think I can't accept her gift? Handphone? Well, I like reading books. Worth my time.

Handphone, for me it just a tool. Book .. well book is knowledge and knowledge is vital. Reading book is like reading the writer's mind, values and philosophy. By the way, book never lies :P

Example:

Let say that you and your spouse or partner want to have lunch. After 5 to 10 minutes discussion, you and your partner decided that you are going to have McD. KEYWORDS: DISCUSSION, DECIDED

Then, both of you arrived at McD. At the McD your partner ordered BMaC, while you on the other hand decided to have HCakes. After finished ordering, you partner asked you to pay whiles you, however, negotiating by asking your partner to pay. KEYWORDS: ORDERED, DECIDED, PAY, NEGOTIATING.

However,

DIY - RM0.1K

Materials - RM0.5K

Total = RM1.6K

Let us compare between outsourcing and DIY, I already save RM1.4K.

So it means a new blackberry playbook (add value) for me for this Eid Ul Fitri.

Recently, I was asked to comment on our economy - Recovery or Recession?

For a layman, I guess this was my comment /answer to the questioner.

Economy is like a marriage. If we're married to the same race, to the same community, our children .. most probably their faces, their IQs, values = same.

However, If we're married to the different race, different community, our children.. most probably their faces, their IQs, values = different.

So, in order for our economy to prosper, we do need Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) and Domestic Direct Investmet (DDI).

Recovery or Recession - let the experts in economy do the talking. I'm just a guy with engineering background .. expertise in Finite Element Analysis (FEA) 1D,2D, 3D, static, dynamic, and force-displacement equation.

You get hired or fired not because of your excellent work and your qualifications (Ph.D, Degree or Diploma). Truth be told, it just someone in (the authority) like or dislike you. So play the office politic smartly.

How?

Follow these basic steps:

Learn the pinnacle
Who is connecting to whom?
Who is influencing to whom?
Who is the real in-charge (manager or nominal manager)
Pick a team (team A or team B)
Last but not least, learn how to play the game.

Foreign Direct Investment - Is The Glass Half Full Or Half Empty?

If FDI is targeted to green-investment, employment will rise, possibly involving a Keynesian multiplier of income and consumption. If FDI is targeted to an acquisition of a large inefficient firm, the priority of profits will possibly lead, in the short run, to waves of dismissals and a rise of unemployment.
Wages are usually higher in foreign affiliates than in, local firms, sometimes with the crowding out of the latter on the labor market (i.e. they do not find any more workers at the previous level of wage and they are not profitable at the new level, because of their lagging productivity).
The local workforce is put into contact with that knowledge and, more in general, with the foreigners' mentality.
Thus, a mid-term effect of FDI can be the mushrooming of new businesses in the same industry by competitors and past key workers. In parallel, the presence of a big foreign investor can re-orient the education & training courses offered in the region, giving rise to a "pool" of specialized skills, which in turn become a competitive advantage for the investor as well as an incentive for ther international firm locate there.

Atap Rumah Bocor. Engineer cadang, roof contractor buat technical evaluation first because not his area of expertise. Accountants decided to panjat atap (without safety equipment + without knowledge + without training) ; evaluated and recommended how to rectify the problem. Then called the "contractor". After ketuk there and there, the contractor sent the bills to the accountants. Accountants then sent the bills to the Engineer with note "please pay".

Upon receiving the bills : Engineer bercakap dengan GERAM: "No way I am going to pay to you ASTUTE, after 3 or 4 months, atap akan bocor semula and you guys akan datang semula for more money. Baiki and baiki, without knowing the root cause of the problem + request more money from me. What, some kind of extortion ke ni?"

Solve your own problem le or pakai duit U sendiri (while thinking rumput di seberang sana lebih hijau).

Comedian Jerry Seinfield once observed that at a funeral, most people would rather be in the casket than giving the eulogy.Ai yoook.

Well, what can I say other than face the reality. The first word out of my mouth was little more than croaked. I cleared my throats again, and again. Out of the blue, my mind went completely blanked. Ah Shuck! But in the end of the day, I did not die, after all. Hopefully I can improve my presentation skill. Any tips friends?
